Maddie
This past weekend I was at a birthday party for my friend's son. He too, like my Maddie, just turned one, and is in that awkward crawling stage. As my friend and I were discussing the downfalls of crawling (falling down stairs, finding random things to eat off the floor…), I lamented about how much I worried about poor little Maddie's knees now that it was summer and way too hot for pants. As my girl determinately hauls herself around, she seems oblivious to what she is actually crawling on – sand, cement, grass, wooden decks, and even gravel. Needless to say, some of these surfaces tend to leave their mark on her little knees. They've been bruised, scraped, rug burned, and we've even had to pin her down and pull splinters out of her knees and feet twice. Ouch! I always joked about how they should make knee pads for babies, and low and behold… they actually do! |
